RNC SUES RACINE, WI FOR FAILING TO HIRE REPUBLICAN POLL WORKERS
September 17, 2024
WASHINGTON - The RNC sued the City of Racine, WI for failing to hire enough Republican election inspectors to meet the state's parity requirement, hiring disproportionately more Democrats in the primary election. Wisconsin law requires that appointments of election inspectors must be made from the lists of the nominees submitted by the political parties.
RNC Chairman Michael Whatley stated: “Racine deliberately excluded Republicans and violated the law. We are suing to hire the number of Republicans that Wisconsin law requires, stop Democrat interference, and uphold election integrity for our country’s most important election."
Background:
- The city only hired 8 of the 55 Republican election inspectors approved to work Election Day during last month’s primary election in Racine, WI.
- Poll watchers and poll workers bring transparency and accountability to the election process. Failing to hire enough Republicans as election inspectors violates the law and undermines confidence in our elections.
- Our lawsuit seeks to ensure the City hires approved Republicans as election inspectors for the general election and to ensure parity requirements are met.
