RNC DEFENDS ELECTION INTEGRITY IN OHIO
October 08, 2024
WASHINGTON - The RNC and Ohio Republican Party have intervened in the Ohio Democratic Party’s baseless lawsuit against Secretary of State Frank LaRose’s ballot guidance.
RNC Chairman Michael Whatley stated: “Secretary LaRose has taken critical steps to safeguard Ohio’s elections, but once again Democrats are trying to dismantle commonsense protections that make it easy to vote and hard to cheat. This is yet another poorly veiled attempt to eliminate ballot safeguards and interfere right before the election – and we will stop them.”
Background:
- Ohio Secretary of State LaRose recently issued a directive that requires individuals delivering another voter’s ballot to enter the county board of elections office and complete an attestation form that they are complying with applicable laws.
- This commonsense guidance allows voters who need assistance to receive help from a person of their choice and promotes election integrity in the process.
- The Ohio Democratic Party’s lawsuit falsely accuses that the Secretary does not have authority to issue such a directive, claiming his order violates state law.
- We are intervening to prevent voter fraud and maintain public confidence in our elections.
