Hosted by Turning Point PAC and Turning Point Action, the Town Hall will be held at the High Point University on Thursday, October 31st.

 

PHOENIX, October 29, 2024 — Turning Point PAC & Turning Point Action are thrilled to be hosting an exclusive campus town hall event with Republican Vice Presidential nominee, Senator JD Vance, on the morning of Oct 31st at High Point University.

 

Much has been made about the importance of the youth vote and its impact on the results of the 2024 election. Many pollsters are already pointing out that this election could see a departure from previous cycles as data related to young men specifically is revealing greater support for the Republican nominee, President Donald J. Trump, than previous cycles.

 

Many students, however, remain undecided voters, still waiting for their specific needs, wants, and concerns to be directly addressed by each campaign before making up their minds. This event gives Gen Z college students that opportunity. Turning Point will work to ensure the audience is inclusive of students of a broad spectrum of cultural backgrounds and experiences as well as political affiliations.

“In 2020, Gen Z accounted for one-in-ten voters. In 2024, it will be up to one-in-six—40 million voters will be coming from Gen Z and as such they are a critically important portion of the electorate for either party to court. As someone who spends a great deal of time with Gen Z, I can tell you with authority, their interests, questions, and anxieties are distinct from Millennials, Xers, and Boomers. They have grown up in an America where they’re expected to downsize the American Dream. To expect less. To assume they are inheriting an America in decline. They fear climate change and having children. They are the most drug addicted, depressed, prescribed, and anxious of any generation. But in the midst of that, there is a new wellspring of Americans who refuse to settle for less than their parents. They want to hear directly from Harris/Walz and Trump/Vance on what they plan to do to correct course for young people. This town hall will be raw, unvarnished, and unscripted. I can’t wait to hear what JD Vance, the youngest candidate in either ticket, has to say to this North Carolina college crowd. The world will definitely be watching.”
