September 30, 2024

In case you missed it: President Trump was on the ground in Valdosta, Georgia today where he was briefed on the heartbreaking devastation from Hurricane Helene by local officials, partnered with Franklin Graham and Samaritans Purse to provide truckloads of relief supplies, and offered his full support in their recovery efforts. In addition to his successful visit, President Donald J. Trump has launched a GoFundMe campaign for supporters to help their fellow American families impacted by Hurricane Helene and has already raised nearly $1 million dollars.

Here's what they are saying:

Speaking on CNN's News Central, Megan Hays stressed the importance of visual imagery and on-the-ground presence during natural disasters.

"People remember the visual here. People are going to remember he is on the ground," Hays said, referring to former President Donald Trump's visit to storm-ravaged Valdosta, Georgia on Monday. "And in an election, that's going to be won on the margins....People are going to remember."

Trump's swift response to the disaster, including his visit to Valdosta, has put pressure on the Biden administration to demonstrate its commitment to affected communities. During his visit, Trump posted a video clip on his Truth Social platform, saying: "We came down with truckloads of different items, from oil to water. We're here today to stand with complete solidarity with the people of Georgia and all those suffering in the terrible aftermath of Hurricane Helene."

As people look to state and local resources, trump says it will take Americans coming together to help recovery efforts progress.

“Working together, we’ll overcome these hardships we’ll endure,” Trump said. “We’ll rebuild Valdosta and every other town that’s been badly hit.”
