WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: Fire Fighters Non-Endorsement Is Another Humiliating Blow For Kamala

October 04, 2024

It's another five-alarm fire for Kamala Harris.

Yesterday's non-endorsement from the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) was widely viewed as just the latest embarrassing setback for the Harris-Walz campaign, which continues to struggle among rank-and-file workers — especially after the Teamsters non-endorsement just two weeks ago.

IAFF's non-endorsement is being panned as another humiliating defeat for Harris-Walz:

  • POLITICO: "Harris suffered a blow Thursday as the union representing more than 300,000 career firefighters and emergency responders declined to make a presidential endorsement"

  • USA TODAY: "A slap to Vice President Kamala Harris"

  • The New York Times: "A blow to the Democratic ticket"

  • NBC's Gabe Gutierrez: "That's seen as a blow to Harris just weeks after the Teamsters union did the same"

  • MSNBC's Joe Scarborough: "Not good news for the Harris campaign"

  • MSNBC's Jon Lemire: "That is reflective of what is becoming a growing concern among Democrats"

  • The Washington Post: "A blow to Democrats"

  • The New York Post: "Another blow to Vice President Kamala Harris"

  • Newsweek: "Harris has been stung by a key labor union declining to endorse her, despite having backed President Joe Biden"

  • Reuters: "Widely viewed as a blow to Vice President Kamala Harris"

  • NBC News: "A particular blow to Vice President Kamala Harris"

  • Business Times: "A significant setback"

  • The Daily Wire: "Another major loss"

  • Just The News: "Another union loss for Vice President and Democratic hopeful Kamala Harris"

  • The Washington Examiner: "The snub is all the more embarrassing for Democrats"

  • The Washington Times: "Another setback with the unions"

  • Breitbart: "Snubbed the Harris-Walz ticket"

  • Townhall: "The unions that Joe Biden touted as his people aren’t openly supporting Democrats this cycle, delivering brutal body blows to Kamala Harris"

This is only the second election since at least 1976 in which the IAFF chose not endorse the Democrat nominee; the other was in 2016 — and we all know how that turned out.

Why wouldn't Kamala earn the support of rank-and-file firefighters? Perhaps it's because the bail fund she promoted sprung a serial arsonist from jail (who went on to light a mosque on fire) or because her DOJ urged leniency for an arsonist who killed a father-of-five.

Or maybe it's because American workers know a Harris-Walz administration would continue the unending death spiral of massive tax hikes, higher costs, and decimated jobs.
